Prayer Requests for September 2011

• Pray for the children and staff at our schools as they return for a new school year, and especially for children for whom this is a difficult time.
  
  
• Continue to pray for all the young people and adults affected by the bombing and shooting in Oslo in July, for those still grieving from the 9/11 attacks in America in 2001, and for all victims of terrorist attacks during the intervening years.
  
  
• Pray for all of those suffering in the drought and famine in the Horn of Africa.
  
  
• Pray for St Mary’s at the time of the Patronal Festival (September 11th), and for the outreach of all of our congregations.
  
  
• As Harvest approaches, give thanks for all that the world produces, and pray that it may be fairly shared with everyone on the earth.
  
  
• Pray for all those being married or baptised this month.
  
  
• Pray for our Churchwardens, PCC, clergy and others as the meetings begin again this month.

PRAYER OF THE MONTH

 

A Prayer found in the Church Times recently:

 

We give thanks for the invention of the handle.
Without it there would be many things we couldn’t hold on to.
As for the things we can’t hold on to anyway,

let us gracefully accept their ungraspable nature and celebrate all things elusive,

fleeting, and intangible.
They mystify us and make us receptive to truth and beauty.
So let us celebrate and give thanks.
Amen.
