Prayer Requests for December 2011

- Pray for our keeping of Advent, for a deeper longing for Christ to come afresh into our hearts, our worship and our service.
- Pray for peace in our homes and peace in our world, as Christmas approaches.
- Pray for all those for whom Christmas will be difficult - the unemployed, those on low incomes, those subject to domestic violence, those who are lonely.
- Pray that all those who come to worship with us during the Christmas Season will be touched by the love of Christ through the Christmas Services.
- Pray for all our preparations at Church to welcome pilgrims and visitors.
- Pray for the Carol Singing in various parts of the Parish, for all the School Carol Services in Church, and for the Christmas Day Lunch at Bassett Green Court.
- Pray for those from the parish who have recently been Confirmed.
PRAYER OF THE MONTH
A Christmas Prayer of Robert Louis Stevenson (Adapted)
Loving God, as Christmas approaches, help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds,
and the worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be your children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven,
for Jesus' sake.
Amen.
