The Parish of Swaythling, Southampton, seeks an enthusiastic and flexible Organist/Director of Music.
There are two Churches in the Parish, and we would like, as a minimum, one service per Sunday (10.00/10.30), alternating between the Churches.
The Organist could be responsible for organising the rota (five volunteers at present) to cover the other services.
Other possibilities include Evensong (6.30), Choir Practice (monthly on a Friday and before two Services a month), weddings/funerals.
The organs are an 1857 one manual Walker at St Mary’s, South Stoneham, and a two manual Walker at St Alban’s, Burgess Road.
Both are available for practice and teaching.
A wide range of hymns, worship songs and other music is used, and there are opportunities for development of the musical tradition.
Salary negotiable, depending on the responsibilities undertaken.
