The Swaythling and Bassett Covenant of Churches (now Churches Together in Swaythling) is again planning to hold a lunch at Bassett Green Court for those in the community who are alone on Christmas Day.
We may be short of helpers in various areas and are asking for volunteers to help us with the following.
Preparation We may need one or two volunteers to help us with cooking and serving the lunch on Christmas Day, and preparing the venue and the vegetables on Christmas Eve (day-time).
Transport Drivers who will give their time to collect guests from their homes and take them to Bassett Green Court or return them home again, or both. Pick up times are 11.15am and 3.00pm approx.
Meals Out There are always several people with severe mobility problems who are unable to come to BG Court. We take these folk a frozen meal and spend a few minutes chatting to them and helping them by heating their meal in the microwave. We always are in need of people willing to do this.
Guests There are many regular attendees, but always space for one or two more. If you know of someone who would benefit from this please let us know as soon as possible. It is not a requirement that they are elderly, just that they will be spending the day on their own.
Carol Singing Gary will be going along as usual at 12.00noon to lead the Carol Singing - this usually finishes about 12.45 for the meal to begin. The more people who are there the merrier, so do come along if you can.
