On November 17th, at 7.30p.m., Bishop Jonathan is presiding at a Deanery Confirmation Service, to which candidates from all over the City have been invited - the venue is still being confirmed (as it were!) at the time of writing.
We shall be taking at least one candidate from here - Mark Reddish from St Alban’s will be confirmed that evening - and if anyone else is interested in being Confirmed, please speak to Gary or Sheena as soon as possible.
We will be offering appropriate preparation for this important step, and it will be a wonderful occasion of celebration for Churches from across the City.
Please pray for Mark and for the others preparing to be confirmed on that occasion, and please put the date in your diary if you might be able to come along and support him with you presence and your prayers.
The Confirmation Service is being held as part of the Bishop’s Mission Week to the City, lasting from the 13th to the 18th of November.
Bishop Jonathan will be spending the week in the Deanery, beginning with a Deanery Evening Service at Highfield Church, on the 13th at 6.30p.m., and including visits to the Universities, schools, parishes - and possibly the Saints Stadium!
At every opportunity Bishop Jonathan will be talking about prayer (a major theme for us in the Parish this Autumn, as it happens, following on from the Faith MOTs in the Summer), and there will be opportunities to pray with him each day in different parts of the Deanery.
Gary is still working on the finer details of the programme, but I hope the final version will be available soon.
Pencil the dates in your diary, pray for the Bishop and all those involved, and come to any of the events you are able to.
