Lots of comings and goings in the Deanery at the moment.
The Revd Angus Parker will be coming to Bitterne LEP at the beginning of October, and shortly after that the Curate there, the Revd Adam Gay, will leave to become the Vicar of St Luke’s, Hedge end, in the neighbouring Deanery of Eastleigh.
The Revd David Caveen retired from Lordshill & Lordswood at the end of July, and is beginning as well-earned retirement with Christine. The process for filling that vacancy is not going just as well as was earlier anticipated.
At North Stoneham and Bassett, there will be interviews at the beginning of September, and we will see whether an appointment is made.
At St Mark’s, Archers Road, the Revd Gerald March is preparing to retire at the end of September.
The Revd Sue Pitkin, Assistant Priest of Maybush & St Jude’s, is going to be the new Assistant Chaplain at the General Hospital - she will remain as Chapter Clerk, which is good news.
We were delighted with the ordinations to the priesthood of Andrew Hargreaves at Shirley, and Duncan Jennings at Thornhill, and we also welcomed Graham Collingridge as the new Deacon of our neighbouring Parish of Bitterne Park.
And we have just elected 7 lay members of the Diocesan Synod and 12 clergy members - our full quota.
And you can read elsewhere about the process for the apportionment of Parish Share.
So, we’ve had quite a lot on our plate
recently.
Let’s hope it’s quieter in August, and there is a bit of time to catch up! |
