The Day of Prayer at the end of April was lovely. It had been a very difficult and busy week for me, and it was great to have some time and space for prayer and reflection.
Chris Day (mainly) and I had set up some prayer stations in the Churches. At St Alban’s, where we were for the morning, we had a steady trickle of people, about 8 or so, I should think, who sat in various parts of the Church, and used one or two of the stations.
At St Mary’s in the afternoon there was a smaller trickle earlier on, but a number of random visitors who came in (a couple married there 47 years ago, a young Polish couple out for a walk, a group of youngsters who all lit candles, etc.), and then more people for Evening Prayer.
Evening Prayer (which Chris did) was lovely, with around 9 or 10 in the Lady Chapel. The St George's Dinner in the Parish Hall was a great success, with lots of people, lovely food, poetry and entertainment, and a good 'sing-song' at the end.
We finished with Compline in the Lady Chapel at St Mary’s with around 20 there.
A peaceful ending to a splendid day!
