DIP Week - August 10th to 16th

Each year we host a group of young people and their leaders from Operation Mobilisation, who come to help with Dip Week on Daisy Dip. Here is an edited version of their report:

What a way to start our TiM outreach in Southampton (the first 24 hours)!
Brent Greiner - Outreach Co-ordinator explains:

  • At the airport in Germany (for those of us travelling from Teen Street), our missions experience began with 30 frustrating minutes of unpacking and repacking our suitcases and carry on bags because of tight weight restrictions on baggage. In the end we did enough to get all our bags checked in!
  • After arriving at London Stanstead airport, our journey to Southampton took more that 5 hours (with three hours spent on the M25 Ring Road around London). The traffic was unbelievable!

  • On the first day of the outreach, one of our vans broke down and it took 2 days to repair. Having one less vehicle meant a lot of extra driving around for me

As I reflected on our situation on the first Sunday, I realized that Satan, through these circumstances, was trying to discourage and distract us from doing what we coming to do, i.e. share the love of God with people. I really felt God speak to my heart and tell us not to be discouraged or give in to the schemes of Satan. We were in a spiritual battle! The verse “Greater is he that is in us than he that is the world” (1 John 4:4) came into my mind. I knew God was going to give us the victory!

What a way to finish our TiM outreach in Southampton!

  • Thirty people received Christ during the week (15 adults and 15 children including 2 whole families!)
  • On the final day, 13 people were baptised and 2 children dedicated
At the healing tent, a number of people received prayer and several were healed!
  • There was an average of 50 children each day for the kids club which was held each morning
  • Each afternoon more than 300 people visited the activities in the park and enjoyed a free BBQ of hamburgers and sausages

  • A total of 32 people from OM participated in the outreach from 11 different countries (Portugal, UK, Korea, Germany, France, Switzerland, USA, Australia, Finland, Argentina, and Canada).

  • There were also a large number of local Christians involved during the week.

As you can tell, they had a wonderful and successful week, and have thanked us for the use of the Hall once again.
