My Favourite Hymn
Josie Osman continues our series of articles for this year:

‘What a Friend we have in Jesus’ has been my favourite hymn, ever since I was young. It reminds me of m happy days at St Alban’s Sunday School.

We used to meet in the Hall, and had a lovely time. Sister Caunt was with us at the time.

We had a concert party, and a group called ‘Better Britons’.

I was in a play called ‘Zireka’. I played a gipsy girl.

Two other hymns that I still hold close to my heart are ‘Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light,’ and ‘Jesus wants me for a sunbeam’.

Happy memories.

I still like to be active and enjoy helping in the community.

The problem comes when you realised you’re not a teenager any more. Oh well!

What a Friend we have in Jesus

1. What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms he’ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
