‘The Wave’ Climate Change Rally – Join Bishop Paul in demonstrating support in favour of urgent action to tackle climate change – 5 December 2009.
On Saturday 5 December tens of thousands of people across the country will rally in London, ahead of the crucial Climate Summit in Copenhagen.
‘The Wave’, the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of urgent action on climate change, is being organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition of more than 100 charities, including Oxfam, Tearfund, Cafod, ActionAid and Christian Aid, and calls on world leaders to take urgent action to secure a fair international deal to stop global warming exceeding the danger threshold of 2 degrees C.
Bishop Paul will be taking part in the rally and he encourages parishioners from across the diocese to join him and the tens of thousands of people across the country who wish to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all.
You could even travel up to London with him on the train to Waterloo that leaves Southampton Airport Parkway at 8.32 am.
Join with other Christians at an ecumenical service, led by Archbishop Rowan Williams and Archbishop Vincent Nichols, at Westminster Central Hall at 11 am and then gather to join the main march at 12.30. Everyone is encouraged to wear blue and by 3pm the plan is to encircle the Houses of Parliament in a sea of blue.
