What Is It?:
The Big Tidy Up is a national initiative being run by the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign.
So far, more than 5,700 groups throughout the country have signed up to carry out litter picks in their area. See their website:
www.thebigtidyup.org
When?:
The Swaythling and Bassett Covenant of Churches, along with City Life Church and the Community Church at Aster House, is organising a Big Tidy Up on:
Saturday, September 19th.
Why?:
A number of reasons:
- Jesus told us to love our neighbours - this is one way of the Church showing this love in action in the local community.
- We hope to show that being a Christian is not just about coming to Church on Sundays.
- We want to show that Churches can work together - so often people outside the Church assume that we are always arguing as Christians.
- We want to make a difference to our local environment - improving the lives of others.
- We want to have fun! Christians like to enjoy themselves when they come together.
The Plan:
10.00a.m.
Bacon butties at St Mary’s, South Stoneham, Wessex Lane.
10.30a.m.
Short Act of Worship
10.45a.m.
The Big Tidy Up – all necessary equipment provided. There will be jobs to do for those of every age and ability.
Come and make a difference!
