A Day on the Trains
Castle Ruin Locomotive

We’ve read before in these pages of David Hales’ ‘Playing trains’ on the Swanage Railway. So, one day in the summer, Gary decided to go and see what he gets up to when he’s down there.

Craig and Bethany went as well, along with two French teenagers, Jeremy and Chloe, who happened to be staying at the Vicarage at the time, and who were the excuse for the trip.

On the whole the guard we had was quite jolly, although, as you can see, there was a bid to install a new guard at one point.

The Guard Gary

He was soon sent back to where he belonged.  The trip from Swanage, via Corfe Castle, to Norden is splendid, with lovely views over the castle and the surrounding countryside.

All Aboard

Not content with trying to be the guard, our interloper then appeared in the engine, only to be turfed out once again (actually, Gary had a lovely time on the engine as it moved from one end of the train to the other at Norden).

It was a great day out, thoroughly to be recommended, especially if David is on duty - see him for details.
